Why upgrade?

Comfort changes

Even the best mattress will feel different after years of nightly use.

Support declines

Over time, your mattress fillings become less responsive, affecting your body’s support.

Freshness matters

Sweat, spills, dust – it all collects in your mattress, so refreshing it is essential for hygiene.

Improved sleep

It’s not you, it’s your mattress. An upgrade could be the key to unlocking a better night’s sleep.

Mattress MOT FAQs

What is the Dreams Mattress MOT?

It’s our quick and easy health check to help you better understand your mattress. Sometimes, what’s going on beneath the cover can be a mystery! That’s where the MOT comes in. We assess age, comfort, support, wear and sleep needs, and let you know whether your mattress is still supporting you well or showing warning signs.

How often should I replace my mattress?

We recommend replacing your mattress every 8 years for optimal comfort, support and hygiene, depending on how often it’s used. We spend about a third of our lives sleeping, so it’s important to keep your mattress feeling its best. Our 2026 UK Sleep Survey found the average British mattress is 6.4 years old, but around a quarter of us are sleeping on one that's nine years or older. Yikes! If that sounds familiar, it’s likely your mattress isn’t giving you optimal support, and it’s time to upgrade.

What happens after the MOT?

Pass, advisory or fail, we’ll give you personalised advice on what to do next to upgrade your sleep. Whether it’s time for a new mattress or your bed just needs a few small tweaks, we’ll guide you through how to sleep better and feel better.
